Tactic 1 — Overlap recovery

When the candidate's turn overlaps with an interlocutor cue, the untrained response is to stop dead. The trained response is to complete the current clause at a slightly raised volume, then yield — completing the thought preserves coherence credit that a dead stop forfeits.

Tactic 2 — Re-entry after a lost turn
