The paraphrase traps that decide linked questions
ETS rarely repeats a word across two documents. The mismatch is the test.
- A memo says an item is "temporarily unavailable"; the question asks why customers "cannot purchase" it. Same fact, different words.
- A supplier writes that delivery will "take longer than expected"; the stem calls it a "delay in the shipment." You match the paraphrase, not the vocabulary.
- An internal note says the company will "turn to another vendor"; the question asks about the "alternative supplier." The collocation is the bridge.
